First morning in HK

Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 6:54 PM
My first morning in Hong Kong. I went for a nice enough breakfast downstairs in the hotel, its included in the price so may as well make the most of it. After sending a few emails i headed out and explored the area around the hotel, i didn't want to go too far incase i got lost.

The weather is not too warm so i was able to enjoy the place best i could on my own, the people here seem to keep to themselves and not bother you.
I wandered around some of the small streets, taking in the sights and smells (an eye opener on some streets). I cant believe how much there is to see here, its almost like an overload for the senses.
The buildings in some cases literally disappear into the clouds, i think i read that its one of the most vertical cities in the world, rightly so. The weather is fine but its very dull and overcast but sure i would be complaining if it was 40 degrees too.
After i got back to the hotel i made a few more phone calls just to set up some interviews and meeting with people.

My interview is tomorrow so i will sleep early tonight so i am fresh in the morning. Fingers crossed i will find the place on Canton Road, on Kowloon.
So far I'm not panicking, i just feel numb and on automatic pilot. I need this job but if i don't get it, i hope something else will come up. Only one solid interview so far.
If it all goes wrong i can afford to stay here for a month-6 weeks tops but i hope it wont come to that as i've very little to come home to.

Ariving in Hong Kong

After a very long and uncomfortable flight (Cathay Pacific), i arrived in Hong Kong for hopefully a new life after mine pretty much fell apart in Ireland.
I was impressed my the airport but god was i nervous, thankfully i found the shuttle bus to the Cosmopolitan hotel fairly easily. It really was an eye opener looking out the window on the journey into Happy Valley to the hotel.
Here i finally was, in Hong Kong, now what? The room was fine, very nice in fact with a huge window and a good view of the skyline, from the wrong side but still good.
Not surprising i slept like a log after making a phone call to Mark and Tesha. Wouldn't you know it, my interview would be in 2 days yikes, at least i can get over the jet lag and explore a bit.
